For two years Dr. Jay Asher wrote a monthly column for Gay and Lesbian Center in South Florida on gay and lesbian couples' issues. He also ran a bi-monthly support group for the Center for gay and lesbian couples for which he won an award. He has self-published a memoir, Sunny Boy, and two novellas, Love in Progress, a lesbian love story, and Brighton Beach Murder, about male prostitution. Dr. Asher's doctoral dissertation dealt with gay and lesbian adolescent suicide; he is the co-founder of H.A.T.C.H. (Houston Area Teen Coalition of Homosexuals). HBO did a documentary on his work with youth, Why Am I Gay?

Author Jay Asher's novella, Love in Progress, is a Life-Lesson for all who love so hard that we willingly give away huge pieces of ourselves in order to maintain a relationship. His profound message is embued with universal truths that transcend gender. Jane's struggle as she bounces back and forth between old habits and the new path she's learning to walk is woven beautifully by the author.
