Since the time of the ancient Greeks Theatre was used to make political statements and address social issues. Unfortunately, due to the commercialization of "Art" only spectacle and revivals find their way to the big stage. As I aim to seek change and address social issues on my radio program, it is only an extension of what I seek to do in my artistic endeavors. Thus, I bring to the Off Broadway Stage "A Wound In Time". It is a play set in Spanish Harlem in 1993, with the intensity of a Greek tragedy, only this time the African gods of Santeria are pulling the strings.
It is full of such social issues as bullying, homophobia, colorism, racism, interracial relationships, religious persecution, etc. Meet some of the cast and their colorful characters they portray at one of our rehearsals as we countdown to preview on Oct. 30th and run for the 3 following Tuesday at the legendary St. Lukes Theatre at 308 W. 46th, NYC.
