This week on Behind the Blue Curtain we’re going to talk about the “Defund the Police” Insanity in a country where violent crime is on the rise along with property crimes. Officers are quitting weekly and contrary to media consensus its not always because of the public. Internal Police politics (Good Ole Boy System), 10–12-hour shifts with standing orders to come in if your called on one of the few days you get off. Police Administrators who pay little if any attention to the men and women of Patrol that work the streets. Unreasonable expectations from City Officials, Citizens, Police Administrators, Supervisors and lazy or apathetic Professional Standards (Internal Affairs) sections that refuse to hold officers accountable. All of that before an officer ever gets to the street to work a call. Then there is the police budget, how many people get a copy and read it? I think if you do you’ll find that often the money is not going to the people who work the streets. Special Units like Traffic (Ticket writers), Special Operations (SWAT), Drug Enforcement and others get a large chunk of that money. Patrol Offices have been tasked with dealing with the homeless crisis and the mental health crisis in America, neither of which is illegal. Where are the agencies that are already funded to oversee these situations?
