Episode 104: Aston Villa Ladies with Katie Wilkinson and Carrie Dunn

    in Soccer

This is a podcast that I've been wanting to do for ages! As part of Aston Villa Ladies week on 7500 to Holte, I got the chance to chat with freelance football journalist Carrie Dunn and AVLFC forward Katie Wilkinson. Carrie writes for numerous outlets, and routinely covers women's football for Shoot magazine. We got the chance to talk about the history of women's football in England, how the game is structured now, and how the Aston Villa Ladies stack up against their competition.
Then I get to talk with Katie. She's been with Aston Villa since she was a kid (with a brief spell across the city of which we will not speak) and is one of the brightest stars on the team. Unfortunately, she's been out with an injury since summer, but that doesn't stop us from digging deep into AVLFC and what it's like being a role model for young players.

American Cityzens - Just Throw Some People In There

    in Soccer

Grey and Josh sift through the wreckage of the Monaco performance as Manchester City exit the Champions League. They go through their gripes with the players, management, and squad construction, dissect what went wrong, and talk about the club's progress - or lack thereof. They also answer listener questions and preview the Liverpool game.
American Cityzens is a Manchester City podcast by two American sports journalists -- Grey Papke and Josh Webb-Thomson. Though purely dedicated to Manchester City, Grey and Josh wanted to provide a voice to the established and growing fan-base of Manchester City here in the United States. American Cityzens is a place for intelligent discussion and passionate fanfare. Man City may be located in Manchester, but they belong to the world now, we're just telling the American side of the story.

Colchonero Chat 43: Seeing off Sevilla PLUS Féminas zero in on title

    in Soccer

Rob Walker (@rwalk03) is a staff writer at Into the Calderón, and Gianluca Lia (@gianlia96) is Into the Calderón’s Atlético Féminas correspondent. Rob is up first, joining the program to discuss a very impressive Atlético Madrid win over Sevilla on Sunday, which was the team’s first win over a top four side this season and may or may not have opened up the race for third place as Atlético continue one of its best runs of the season. Rob also opines on how watching Eliaquim Mangala is like watching a finely-tuned orchestra.
Gianluca then stops by for an engaging discussion on Atleti’s women’s team, which is unbeaten with eight weeks of Liga Iberdrola to go and four points clear of Barcelona in the race for the title. Gianluca and Jeremy talk about the team’s key players, the awesome Sonia Bermúdez, what the ingredients to success have been, how women’s football is starting to find an audience and what kind of exposure the future holds.
Go to Facebook and like Into the Calderón at facebook.com/intothecalderon (it’s pretty easy!). Also, subscribe to Colchonero Chat on iTunes and other platforms, such as Stitcher and Acast.
