Unions are under attack in the US and around much of the world. People are wondering whether they will even be relevant to the global democratic revolution we are trying to organize. They face the power of the Kochs and others determined to end collective bargaining, constant anti-union propaganda, member apathy and lack of support from both Duopoly parties.

How much of the problem is due to the unions themselves and what can we do about it? Are international unions part of the solution or part of the problem? Whatever the answers to these questions, we need to find a way to make unions relevant to average Americans again by mobilizing their members to organize a united international front against fascism and war.

Joining us to discuss these vital issues on Saturday, August 9 will be Dan Kovalik, general counsel for United Steel Workers in Pittsburgh. As anyone who is familiar with USW knows, its President Leo Girard is a frequent guest on The Ed Schultz Show. With your help, we might be able to come up with some ideas that Girard can take to the corporate media.
