Voter registration continues to plummet in the US, with millions of Americans implicitly stating that their votes have become meaningless. Congress has been bought by CEOs and puts corporate interests over We the People on a regular basis, despite the fact that the nation is failing economically, socially and morally as a result.

If it fails in the US, is democracy possible? The surprising answer is that the more obvious it is that the US is not a democracy, the easier it may be to get people to wake up and make it one. They just need to know how it is possible.

A constitutional amendment that would ban corporate campaign expenditures, limit individual donations and abolish corporate personhood would be a huge step in establishing democracy in the US. It would require electing a Congress willing to challenge entrenched corporate interests, something few think possible. We will talk about how it can be done.

On Saturday, May 11 at 10 AM PST/ 1 PM EST our guest on SFPI Radio will be Paul Winger, a former union lobbyist who is now working for a constitutional amendment to end corporate personhood and the buying of elections.
