SAVING OUR SCHOOLS WITH SUSAN BARRETT

Everyone agrees that there is a funding crisis in our schools, but no the cause of the problem or its solution. Many blame unreasonable teacher benefits and administrative waste, while others dispute these claims, citing skyrocketing health care costs, declining property tax revenues and other factors.

On Thursday September 13 we will look at the facts of the issues with Susan Barrett, education reform advocate and co-founder the state chapter of Save Our Schools in Oregon.

Whatever the reason that our children are receiving an education that falls far short of that their parents received we all have a responsibility to find a solution. Children are our future and education is a fundamental part of having an informed citizenry capable of telling our leaders how we want them to deal with this and the many other challenges Congress is not effectively addressing.
