On April 7 our guest was Frank Erickson, MD, a Mad as Hell Doctor from rural Oregon. Frank has been a very active advocate for single payer health care as a fellow member of Physicians for a National Health Program and its Oregon group of Mad as Hell Doctors.

Mad as Hell Doctors is currently forming a coalition of health care reform advocates to wage a Vermont-style campaign to convince the public that health care is a human right.  To find out more about MAHD and how you can help, go to our website: http://madashelldoctors.com/

We explored the reasons why we must have a single payer system if any ordinary American is to have access to health care in the next 5-10 years. We also discussed why the recent "health care" "reform" debate was merely a cover for a bailout of a failed private medical insurance industry kept alive only with massive infusions of taxpayer money as it continues to inevitably fail.

Dr Erickson understands better than most how the fight for single payer hinges on ending the corporate corruption of Congress and the Presidency. We will discuss how we might accomplish that through the Pledge to Amend project to make support for a strong constitutional amendment to get special interest money out of politics.

SFPI Radio is the international talk show designed to allow those struggling for social justice around the world to talk to each other about how we can support efforts to promote justice, democracy and peace in every nation.
