On Saturday, November 19 SFPI Radio hosted Jorden Leonard of Oregon's Pacific Green Party. We discussed how the Occupy movement can be a key to abolishing corporate personhood. Jorden is a young political activist who understands the need for young people to get involved in activism and electoral politics. He is fighting not only for his own future but for the future of his two year old son. In addition to being the volunteer Executive Director of the Portland chapter of the Pacific Green Party, he is the chief organizer for Wolf PAC for the Portland area. Wolf PAC was started to get money out of politics: http://www.wolf-pac.com/ Jorden is an extermely involved organizer for Occupy Portland and is working with a number of groups and committees within it. We discussed lessons learned from Occupy Portland, it's role in the Occupy Movement and how other occupations can go from rhetoric to action by passing resolutions in GA calling for a constitutional amendment to abolish corporate personhood. It is time to respond to critics on both the Left and Right that the Occupy movement has no central demand. As autonomous individuals we can choose to dedicate ourselves to this cause if we recognize that none of our otehr demands will be met until we get the corporate tools out of Congress.
