Episode 37- The Cop Who Got Injured and Lost It All

    in Self Help

Join Greg Cunningham, Former Cop share his jaw dropping story of an injury an innocent prescription to manage the pain, and the avalanche of destruction that caused him to lose it all.  I am a former police officer with over a decade of experience. I worked narcotics at my department and was also assigned to a drug task force. After a few injuries that ended up in the exposure to a drug I couldn't put down. Well where does a narcotics officer turn when they have a substance abuse issue. At the time it looks like if you ask for help at all you will end up losing your job or being sidelined along with losing the respect of the officer and other first responders around you. I quit the police department in order to avoid possibly embarrassing the department. I ended up a full-blown addict. I have over 5 years clean and I am now making it my mission to help addicts everywhere by making people realize that having SUD is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a medical issue not a willpower issue.  http://directory.libsyn.com/episode/index/id/6572001 , https://www.facebook.com/LTADW/ , http://mindfulhope.com/shame-the-best-way-to-kill-people/ .

  • Part 3: CUTV News Radio welcomes back Dr. Madelyn Blair

    in Self Help

Jefferson, MD – Madelyn Blair is an exceptional leadership resilience coach, key note speaker, and author of the books “Riding the Current” and “Essays in Two Voices.”
“Resilience is more than just a positive frame of mind,” says Madelyn.  “It pertains to taking action when you hit a snag or an unexpected block.  The root of resilience means to jump and take action and that is precisely what great leaders must do in order to continually be effective.”
Madelyn ingeniously teaches her four daily practices and how every single person can build their resilience if they have the will to do so. It begins with 5 minutes of silence each day, the key being to get yourself in a quiet place and sit in silence so you can focus on listening to that quiet voice in your mind for guidance.
“I understand a great deal how managers lead people and in particular how they do it to create more resilience for themselves and their organization,” says Madelyn.
With a blog on Psychology today entitled “Resilient leaders,.” workshops, coaching and speaking engagements, Dr. Blair teaches her “phenomenal four,” a set of daily practices that boot resilience.
“My four daily practices are about enhancing, releasing, and unlocking your resilience,” says Madelyn.  “You can definitely achieve it with these practices.  Many people deal with resilience from a theoretical standpoint whereas I do it from a practical standpoint.”
For Madelyn her work is humbling and she takes great pride when people inform her how their whole lives have been transformed through her teachings and advice.
