While Hubble 3D continues to amaze theater-goers with its mind-boggling images of space, Darlene Cavalier (aka The Science Cheerleader) speaks with the man who led the mission to repair the Hubble's flawed lens. Dr. Story Musgrave's heroic space walk was but one of several milestones he's accomplished (he's been on SIX shuttle missions, to name another). Musgrave is a provocative scientist, philosopher, medical surgeon, artist and landscape architect, among other things. A spiritual perfectionist who values the individual insights of those who pack lecture halls to hear him speak. His life was shaped by triumphs and tragedies the likes of which most people will never experience. What inspired him to follow a career in science? From where does he draw inspiration today? What's next for Story? President Obama has said he plans to cut funding for manned-space missions; what does Story think about this? Does America have what it takes to continue to be a world-class leader of science and innovation? What career path would he recommend for today's recent high school graduates? Cavalier, who also writes for Discover Magazine, asks all this and more of Dr. Musgrave, in this Blog Talk Radio segment. If this interview leaves you wanting to learn more about Dr. Musgrave, just send your questions to darlene@sciencecheerleader.com and we'll see if we can get them answered for you in a follow up segment.00:30:00Science Cheerleadernospace, hubble, musgrave, innovation, futureThe nation is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Hubble Telescope.
