We all know people who are happy and thriving, while doing extraordinary things for others. They glow, they are energized and we want to be around them. Why is that? Sometimes, the best part of ourselves is the part that can empathize and share with other people. And it can be a big piece of the puzzle in being your best YOU. Nikki Johnson-Huston has been my guest twice before,(4/3/11, 1/8/12)  but this time she is bringing us some amazing news. Not only is she going to share with us some of what she learned while traveling to India and New Zealand  for her Eisenhower Fellowship last year, but she is going to talk about her book proposal! In other words: Dieting and Losing Weight. Unless you live under a rock somewhere, you know that this is a big problem, and there are endless reality TV shows, interviews, books, articles and programs dedicated to this subject. Have you ever asked Why? Why so many? I believe that the secret isn't hidden in a green salad. It is a matter of Changing Your Mind. A simple statement with a not-so-simple story behind it. To share this story, to share the happiness of having a Good Breakup with Food, I am excited to have as my guest Allison Tuttle - my own beloved stepdaughter, and a woman who I see as a true inspiration. Since I know her well, I already know the details. But her story of how she literally Changed Her Mind and ended up changing her life will make you stop, look, listen and then take notes. When is the last time you thought about our educational system as a gift? If you have children in school, you probably think of the school system as slightly less irritating than root canal. Or maybe more irritating.   But in other parts of the world, what we find frustrating or annoying is considered a gift beyond price.   Today, I want to talk about Malala Yousufzai and the contrast between a 14 year old girl here in America and this brave young woman. I want to make us all think about how blessed we really are, to have the gift of education available to every child in America.   Link to News Article: http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/14/14431038-thousands-rally-in-karachi-for-malala-14-year-old-pakistani-girl-shot-by-taliban?lite   Link to my Website: www.averagewomansj.com 00:30:00Sandi Tuttlenoeducation, women,Taliban, children, freedomThe Gift of Education. Kim Harman is the Creator and Founder of the “Tend Roses System” (www.tendroses.com), and is coming back on the show today to discuss why it is so important to give yourself permission to love YOU, not just everyone else around you!  Tune in for a full hour with Kim on September 23rd at 9AM EST! 01:06:00Sandi Tuttlenowomen, holidays, self improvement, family, humor(Rescheduled from 9/19) The summer is finally behind us.  Fall is in the morning air.  The holidays are right around the corner.  Does that thought make you cWhat Will Happen When We Are Gone?http://www.blogtalkradio.com/sandi-tuttle/2011/09/19/what-will-happen-when-we-are-gone-1Womenhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/sandi-tuttle/2011/09/19/what-will-happen-when-we-are-gone-1/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/sandi-tuttle/2011/09/19/what-will-happen-when-we-are-gone-1Mon, 19 Sep 2011 13:00:00 GMTWhat Will Happen When We Are Gone? I connected with Pedram when I put out a request on the Diva Toolbox Network (www.divatoolbox.com) for someone who could help me discuss ways that caregivers could re-energize themselves while doing superhuman tasks on a daily basis.  When he responded that he would be willing to share his insights on my show, he also sent me a copy of his new book. In reading this book, I realized that there is a lot more here than just a simple recipe for caregivers to get a jumpstart on a bad day.  And the more I read, the more it made sense to me. There really are no quick fixes, even if we have been told by society and the media that we are entitled to them.  The best way to fix a situation is to look at it and fix what is causing the problem.  That isn’t often easy, but the rewards to us as individuals can be great. I hope that you will enjoy what Pedram is bringing to the show, and I hope that it makes sense to you like it did to me!  The longest journey truly starts with a first step! 01:01:00Sandi TuttlenoSelf Improvement,Caregivers,Women,Nutrition,Exercise and HealthBROADCAST AT A SPECIAL TIME - 9:00 PM EST. Ruth Melian is an amazing lady who introduced me to the CONTACT Community Helplines organization here in South Jersey. (http://www.contacthelplines.org/) CONTACT Community Helplines' primary mission is to LISTEN to people confronting crisis or in need and, where appropriate, refer them to other agencies and organizations whose services they may require or benefit from, and is is an affiliate of LifeLine International which originated in Australia in 1963.  The network of 24-hour crisis helplines has spread throughout the world and is now active in 15 countries on four continents. Ruth explained to me how she, and a group of dedicated volunteers, took an idea for a consignment shop and turned it into a way to fund these continuing services - while providing a place for people to purchase affordable clothing as well as somewhere to come to feel the warmth and kindness of the volunteers working there!  Win-Win-Win all the way around - we don't see that very often today! Norma E. Roth, a breast cancer survivor, learned she had breast cancer after a non-palpable tumor was detected on her annual mammogram.  She was the ninth and youngest woman, spanning three generations on both sides of her mother’s family to be diagnosed with breast cancer.  In 2006, Norma began interviewing breast cancer survivors and well known physicians to create a unique and special collection of sentimental stories celebrating women with breast cancer.  She holds a bachelor of science degree from Boston University’s College of Communication and is a former grant writer for various Philadelphia based non-profit organizations.  She is an active volunteer in local charities.  Ms. Roth lives in Cherry Hill, NJ with her husband, Joel Penn, and their three children. Today's episode will talk about how Norma felt led to write her book, and how she shares her own superpowers with everyone who encounters her on her own journey to educate those of us who have not yet been touched by this disease!  For more information, go to: http://www.pinkribbonjourney.com/. 00:30:00Sandi Tuttlenowomen,Humor,Breast Cancer,Survivors,Self HelpWe never know who is walking next to us, standing just ahead of us in the checkout line.  And yet, superwomen are everywhere in our lives.  We just have to turThe Race is Run - But Not Overhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/sandi-tuttle/2011/05/09/finding-humor-in-the-chaos-of-daily-lifeWomenhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/sandi-tuttle/2011/05/09/finding-humor-in-the-chaos-of-daily-life/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/sandi-tuttle/2011/05/09/finding-humor-in-the-chaos-of-daily-lifeMon, 09 May 2011 13:00:00 GMTThe Race is Run - But Not Over We all want to be able to make a difference in our lives.  One way I have chosen to do so is to support Breast Cancer research and the efforts of the Komen organization by participating in the annual Race for the Cure.
