Join your host Robin Hardy as she chats with Dina Martin-Rusk, DC, Zumba expert and nutritional expert. We often hear these days about "Living a Wholistic life. What does that mean? In all my years I have been striving to embrace that type of life. It is a life that has balance. You've probably also heard of the concept of mind body spirit connection. Being mindful of all these essential parts of who we are is important and striving to balance these is to live a wholistic life style. Being a chiropractor, practicing nutritional therapy and being a fitness instructor, I primarily teach the physical aspect of the wholistic life. Even within the physical realm we must have balance in order to be healthy and feel our best. Eating proper nutrition, exercising often, getting plenty of rest, using natural methods of healing to resolve health issues when more aggressive means aren't necessary, and keeping the nervous system free of interference so that the body can function at optimum power are all important toward a healthy body. Fitness is an important component to being healthy. It is important to cross train (incorporate different types of fitness practice into a regimen). It is also important to participate in a type of exercise that you really enjoy doing and that your body can do. Zumba has been my primary fitness focus in the last year. A fun, dance based type of fitness that anyone can do. For men and women of all ages and abilities and children. Balance through chiropractic, good nutrition, and fitness can contribute toward calming the mind.
