Legendary actress and acclaimed photographer Barbara Parkins is best remembered as an icon who had starring roles in the 1960;s era's more notorious productions, Peyton Place (1964) and Valley of the Dolls(1967).  Barbara brought her camera along to photograph fellow actors, location and moments.  Her first film would be the controversial “Valley of the Dolls” based on Jacqueline Susann’s novel. Barbara played Anne Wells. On location in Connecticut she met the great photographer “Edward Steichen” who was visiting the cinematographer. "His breathtaking and dramatic stylized photographs, his hauntingly beautiful landscapes have influenced me in capturing the mood of a subject," Barbara said.

Now, Barbara concentrates on her own photography and she is an advocate for endangered wildlife.
