Nick Von Seelen has been a friend for years and worked out at my gym when I owned Midwest Fitness Center. Nick has been in the fitness industry since he was 5 years old, starting his own martial arts club in his garage when he was in high school so he and his friends could train together. He was a Wellness Coordinator for a local large company in the St Louis area, helping employees with personal training, massage therapy and ergonomic evaluations. Patriot Self Defense, named such because all his friends wanted to go into the military after high school, is located in Eureka Missouri off Thresher in the Sav a Lot Shopping Center and offers Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Zumba and Mixed Martial arts training and is an authorized Gracie Jiu-Jitsu academy. After all, weren't we taught we needed to suffer like Jesus? My spirit, mind and health were affected by stress, part of which was from things that happened to me that were beyond my control, some of which was related to religious and cultural attitudes. The stress from extreme overwork caught up with me also. What followed was extreme burnout and spiritual depletion. My attitudes, my understanding of the bible, God, Jesus and the teachings of the church were totally out of balance. I needed to start from pure spirit, recreating my life by moving toward what came to me through meditation, prayer and synchronicity. I read many books that I was led to through prayer, meditation and synchronicity. I was amazed that in all of these books was wisdom and truths that felt right to my spirit. The wonderful part is that I came back with a new understanding of the teachings that made sense to me. The writers of the bible did a wonderful job of pulling together ancient wisdom from ancient teachings and combining that wisdom in metaphors in the bible. It was I, who in my search for truth and spirituality, did not have adequate comprehension of the insights presented and needed more information to understand the real meaning of the bible. Today I have a more spiritual connection and understanding of God and Jesus. I also better understand the importance of prayer. My show is about my journey coming back, the why, the how, the mystical experiences and knowledge I gained that I wish to share with others. I plan to have guests as well.
