Join host Lori Hays for an exciting conversation with author Mark David Gerson for a conversation about his literary journey and his newest book: Birthing Your Book: Even If You Don't Know What It's About
"I like to joke that my Muse tricked me into writing and, in a sense, that's true. In public school and through most of university, I did everything I could to avoid writing. I opted instead for subjects like math; that way, I minimized the dangers of not only being wrong but of being judged harshly for having been wrong. "But my Muse had other plans, as I write about in Acts of Surrender: A Writer's Memoir. Starting in high school when I was pushed into doing the publicity for two musical theater productions, I was slowly, subtly and unconsciously transformed into the writer I never thought I wanted to be. Within a decade, I was freelancing full-time as a self-taught writer and editor. "What I have discovered over the years is that The Call To Write is one I can't ignore, which is why I titled my second book The Voice of the Muse: Answering the Call to Write. I can't not write any more than I can't not breathe. "Today, when I'm not working on my own creative projects, I'm helping to guide others -- writers and non-writers alike -- on theirs. I do it with my books and recordings. I do it in my workshops, webinars and seminars. And I do it one-on-one as a creativity catalyst, a term I invented to take coaching and mentoring to dynamic, more empowered levels. ~ Mark David Gerson www.markdavidgerson.com www.facebook.com/markdavidgerson
