Charles said "I was raised by my grandparents, until about the eighth grade. Then we moved to San Jose and my mom was involved with an alcoholic. I hated him at first, and he was abusive to us. I told myself that I would not ever be like that, but I was wrong. In my journey through life I came to love the man I hated. Nevertheless, I became involved with alcohol, drugs, and with whatever came through the doors. I tried to get away by joining the army. My cousin and I joined up on a buddy system, but I was arrested the day before we were going to leave. He left, I stayed and I went and got involved in the gang/party lifestyle. I didn't really know where my life was taking me. I felt like I was just living. I have overcome struggles by blood of the lamb. I am believer in God. I'm an ambassador for Christ for his Glory. I grew in a home were my parent's worked all the time. I always stayed at my grandparents house they took care of me. At the age of 10 I was sexually molested by my step grandfather till I was 15. I told my parents and they reported it to authorities and to the school. I felt isolated lonely rejected and I looked for love in the wrong places. As I became a woman, I ran with the darkness and I became a daughter of the most wicked. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior with my grandma and I knew who God was. I hated him for all things that happened in my past. I was angry bitter jealous and hated people. I wanted to hurt them so I could feel good. In 2010 when my dad passed on I became more depressed and I just delivered my twins . I was on pain meds from my surgery I heard the darkness calling me to commit suicide because it was time for me give my up soul. A good friend of mine invited me to church. When I went to church they prayed for me and I don't remember anything but it was an deliverance. I received Christ in my heart and was reborn. I received total deliverance at my church through holy ghost revival. I Have been a God chaser and believer in Christ for 4 Years. I give God all the glory and honor for all he has done in my life. He put my feet on solid ground and I will not be shaken or moved . I am his he is mine Jesus lover of my soul. He is the current chair of Trans-E-Motion, an organization that works to improve the lives of transgender people through advocacy, education, and support in Fresno and surrounding communities. Zoyer has been involved in bringing awareness to LGBTQ+ issues at both the Fresno City College and Fresno State campus communities. He has served on the board of PFLAG Fresno, a support group for parents, families, and friends of the LGBTQ+ community. Zoyer has played an active role in public relations and as a political liaison for the Fresno Rainbow Pride committee, a group responsible for hosting the annual Fresno Pride Parade and Festival in Fresno's Tower District. My mom was full of so much love and tried her hardest to give me a beautiful life. I never knew my father, he passed away when I was young due to a heroin overdose. I always felt there was something wrong with me since I never had a dad and this worthless self-limiting belief became engrained in me and acted as a driving force for many of my actions. When my mom and my step-dad divorced when I was almost in sixth grade, I became very angry. I began idolizing the criminals and gang-members in my community. I wanted their acceptance and in that process, I became very lost. I began using drugs and alcohol at this time and struggled with my addiction throughout my life. I was in and out of Juvenile Detention and as an adult, I found myself involved in the criminal justice system due to committing crimes to fuel my addiction." Jeffrey Smith who is an experinced substance abuse specialist will be our guest speaker for the show.  He will talk a little about himself and the program. Jeffrey wrote "  My name is Jeffrey Smith. I came to Fresno by way of Wisconsin after I was discharged from the U.S.Navy. I have a background in youth/family counseling and mediation. I have a passion to see people’s lives transformed though a personal relationship with Jesus. It is because of my faith that I have been blessed with the opportunities to serve others in many capacities. From my time as a camp counselor to my work with the Rawhide Boys Ranch in Wisconsin, to my tour of duty in the Navy, I have dedicated my life to serving others in any way I can. I am now working for Dunamis Inc. which is an outpatient alcohol and drug clinic. We provide an array of services to include mental health and conflict counseling. I recently graduated with my Master’s degree in Peacemaking and Conflict Studies, and am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Transformational Leadership. None of this was inevitable. I struggled with ADHD and the resulting depression and life chaos. I have experienced a close friend commit suicide, and have had long bouts with unemployment and underemployment. Life is challenging and we often try and cope in unhealthy ways. I am blessed to have had great people in my life at the right time to keep me from making really destructive decisions.
