The word "psychopath" makes us shudder. It conjurs up images of diabolical predators such as Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy and David Berkowitz. We think of the psychopath as a rare creature lurking in the shadows, but experts who have studied this personality disorder say that is a gross misconception - that psychopaths are actually quite common in our society.
