In January of 2012, twelve teen girls from a small town in upstate New York developed an unexplained and severe tic disorder causing them to drop out of school and leave their typical teen social lives behind.  The once quiet community of LeRoy, NY suddenly took center stage in a very public tabloid news story. Dueling neurologists presented two very opposing diagnoses.  PANDAS expert, Dr. Rosario Trifiletti became the voice of opposition to the medical establishment that was convinced from the get go that the 12 girls were suffering a form of conversion disorder (mass hysteria). After consulting with nine of the twelve girls, Dr. Trifiletti came to a different conclusion - a new and unidentified form of  PANDAS he labeled, LeRoy Syndrome.

On this episode of PPN, we talk to Dr. Trifiletti, a board certified neurologist with special qualification in Child Neurology.  His tireless pursuit to help parents get answers and children get help have long been recognized by the PANDAS community. Dr. Trifiletti's primary areas of expertise are tic disorders, PANDAS; Autism; Neurometabolic and genetic diseases.  On his website, Dr. Trifiletti states, "I enjoy challenging cases that have defied diagnosis."

Dr. Trifiletti works in Ramsey, NJ and can be reached via his website - http://www.site.neurokidsr.us/
