Burke as Mr. Soul
Clarence Burke and The Five Stairsteps proudly occupy the pages of most music history books and have been dubbed by music historians as THE FIRST FAMILY OF SOUL. This pioneering soul band etched the archetype that boy bands of yesterday and today use as a template for style and harmony. Look at the Jackson 5, Boys II Men, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, et al, and you will notice the imprint from the arrangements, choreography and vocal styles that the Stairsteps originated. The Five Stairsteps lived on the music charts with hits like; "O-O-H Child" (a multi-million seller and is still going strong), "World of Fantasy", "You Waited Too Long", "Danger She's a Stranger", and "Come Back". After eight years of chart topping singles and a string of successful albums, the Stairsteps teamed up with the late great Billy Preston and George Harrison to record "Stairsteps 2nd Resurrection". Music critics wrote about the strength and quality of the album, but most fans never got the chance to see the Stairsteps 2nd Resurrection performed LIVE! Get ready for Part 2 of the 5 Stairsteps interviews. Clarence Burke Jr. will talk about what is was like recording the First Family of Soul! Lots of memories and insights to share!
