Amahoriwacu 2017 campaign for Democratic Change and peace in Rwanda organizes an official launch event of the campaign in Montreal May 21, 2016.

The event will be held under the theme: Rwanda 2017: Change is an absolute necessity in Rwanda.

Rwanda2017: Change is a must” is an event to raise an awareness around the world about the real danger ahead if in 2017, Rwanda does not welcome change based on true democracy, freedom and the rule of law, which is the only path towards sustainable peace in Rwanda and the region of the African Great Lakes.

Over the past 22 years of Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) rule headed by President Paul Kagame, Rwanda has become an open prison for the Rwandan people and a hospice for anyone (journalists, opposing politicians and civil society groups, human rights activists, etc) who would dare to criticize the government. This reality is also shared by the populations of neighboring Congo and Burundi in particular who have come to bare the brunt of the Kigali oppressive regime. The Rwandan state and its army continues to cause much harm and death by interfering in their internal affairs of and arming groups that are causing disturbances, deaths and acts of terrorism in these countries.

The time has come for the people of Rwanda and neighboring countries to come together and loudly declare that change demanded by the people is the only way for lasting peace and reconciliation of our peoples and our region.

We invite you and your friends/colleagues to come and join us in a March for Change, Peace and Democracy on Saturday 21 May 2016 at 12:00, to be followed by a Conference to discuss the issue at hand.
