Southern Hemisphere Christianity

North America seemed like the center of Christianity for a very long time. I can remember as I was growing up the importance that was laid on sending out missionaries and winning the lost--at any cost. Since we--the North Americans--pretty much were the definition of Christianity, we had no problem introducing our own cultural form of Christianity around the world as THE best form of Christian life and experience. I still meet a lot of Americans that think this way.

Here's the truth: We North Americans long ago lost our "position" as the definition and center of world Christianity. Now, the church in the southern hemisphere is taking up the task--and, the mantle--of spreading the gospel message and finishing the task of the Great Commission. Why is that? Why does southern hemisphere Christianity seem so much more vital and powerful in the face of persecution and marginalization?

On Sunday afternoon Greg will be talking about some of these issues...and, doing it from the southern hemisphere. You won't want to miss this edition of Second Half Christians. We Want You!!!
