Many gay men feel they are objectified and/or marginalized both in their gay culture experience. Issues of body take on varying multi-sectional issues of age, race, size, objectification, and even gender expression. We escape a heteronormative mold often to encounter the homonormative one. This episode we will discuss these issues and more as they relate to gay male body issues. I am your Host Elliott Skaggs, here is some info on my background: Elliott is a former activist, academic, and community organizer. He earned his BA degree at Appalachian State University and did his senior thesis on Gay Socialization covering issues ranging from objectification, internalized homophobia, and building models of gay solidarity. He is also a former president and founder of a LGBT student organization at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. Joining us today is our guest Oberyn Kunning: Oberyn Kunning is an activist working along multiple intersections of organizing, including communities of size/Fatness, queerness, feminism, anti-racism, anti-colonialism, anti-Capitalist, and disability. They are a witch, partner, father, teacher, and co-founder, director, producer, and performer at the new queer-occult studio Drewary Lodge. 00:31:00ElliottSkaggsyesGay Male Body Issues,Gay,LGBT,Body Issues,ObjectificationJoin your host Elliott Skaggs with special guest Oberyn Kunning on "Queer Spirits: Empowering the Tribe" on discussing body image issues in gay culture. Join Host Elliott Skaggs and Special Guest Andrew LeFey as they discuss how to navigate gay culture and the issues involved with it. Elliott is a former LGBT student organizer and club president. He got his B.A. degree in Religious Studies from Appalachain State University and did his senior thesis research on the Gay Men's Movement in Contemporary Paganism. His research focused on sociological and psychological perspectives on the issues of internalized homophobia, gay socialization, objectification in gay culture, and gay solidarity. Elliott also has blogged on several of these issues and more both during and after his research which can be accessed through his blog "Searching for Queer Spirit." Andrew LeFey has been on the Path of the Witch for around 10 years, and is one of the founders of The Owl’s Well, and education-focused Pagan community in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a member and student of the Temple of Witchcraft, getting ready to start his Third Degree studies this fall. He works in-depth with his Allies amongst the Fey as well as his connection to the Triple Goddess Archetype. He has worked in the Queer community for almost a decade as a Drag Queen as well as working with GLBT Youth Groups in the Nashville and St. Louis areas.     00:31:00ElliottSkaggsnogay,gay culture, gay spirituality, gay empowerment, gay menNavigating gay culture is tough, we all carry various preconceptions and internalized baggage that can make it difficult to "find our place" in the gay communi
