The importance of Mother (Ummi) A man came to the Messenger of Allaah and said: “O Messenger of Allaah, who is most deserving of my good company?” He said: “Your mother”. He said: “Then who?” He said: “Your mother”. He said: “Then who?” He said: “Your mother”. He said: “Then who?” He said: “Then your father”. Honoring one's mother does not come to an end even when she dies, for she is honored in life and in death.

"Now, seed are perfect, yea, as perfect as the source from which they come; but they are not unfolded into life made manifest. The child is as perfect as the mother is. So man, the seed, must be deep planted in a soil that he might grow, unfold, as does the bud unfold to show the flower.

Mother is the first instructor by universal law

The mother is the first teacher and the father is recognized as the second teacher. Each role defines a specific polarity of life and a different aspect of divine wisdom. Every relationship we have plays on these initial experiences, stirring memories of our own mother and father.

The extraordinary role of the mother as the first teacher is responsible for the female developing her authentic identity and embracing her sacred feminine. Once the child is born, the mother is both teacher and guide. She is the primary foundation and first influence, providing the child with security and love. Her authentic and intimate relationships show the child the way to trust. Once the child is born, the mother is both teacher and guide.
