When you choose to help someone, you’re giving a gift of your time and resources. It’s an act of caring and generosity that has a positive impact on the person being helped and the person who is doing the helping, truly a win-win situation. However, if you feel compelled to help, then you are no longer at choice and your freedom is jeopardized. If you struggle with “Compulsive Helping”, as many of us do (including Lindsay, our host,) you can feel stuck in a pattern that puts your needs, wants and feelings second to others. Sadly, this can ultimately result in resentment and anger creating a toxic, no-win emotional situation for everyone involved. Negative core issues trigger some of the deepest fear-based emotions that we have: abandonment/rejection; shame over what I am or am not; guilt because of what I did or didn’t do and the great fear of being found out. Join us during this provocative interview with Loretta Sparks, Past President of the American Academy of Psychotherapists and Diplomate of Comprehensive Energy Psychology. Loretta is also an EFT Master and highly accomplished psychotherapist.
