I’ve always escaped into the far off places within my mind. Growing up with an alcoholic father, a good but troubled man, made this retreat a forced reprieve from an often tumultuous world. I have never had the feeling that both of my feet were firmly planted and grounded within the world around me. Instead, I always felt torn between this world and another that is forever trying to get my attention. Because of that, I began writing.

I’m enormously appreciative of this life of mine, as topsy-turvy as it has been. I’m here, for one, and I almost wasn’t. My son is here, and he almost wasn’t. Those two things alone remind me that Fate isn’t always  cruel. I believe in miracles, and the sudden wonderful shift for the better life can, at times, take. Thank you – each of you – for joining me on this ride. Life is a bit better, when shared. And I’m pleased to be sharing this ride with you.
