We feel that if we could just grab hold of a reason for each painful event then we could make it through to the other side. There are a few practical things, however, that we can do to grow stronger and smarter in our struggle against sin. Strength is found in God’s Word, the Bible. In fact, there’s inherent power in the Word. In John 6:63 (NKJV), Jesus said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” Meditating on the Word feeds life to your spirit. And when you’re strong enough spiritually, you can do what God wants you to do, no matter what pressure the flesh is putting on you. So whatever the temptation is that you’re facing, be encouraged. You can resist it. You can have the self-control you need, by God’s grace, to say, “I’m going to do what God wants. I’m led by His Spirit and living His great plan for my life!” 00:55:00The Power PodcastnoGod,Jesus,Holy Spirit,Love,JoyTemptation is something we all face as Christians, no matter how long we have been following Christ. Whether we realize it or not, we have the ability to choose to ignore tempting thoughts or allow them to remain in our minds. If not kept in check, our temptations can lead to disappointment, failure, rejection, isolation, and a host of other consequences. Perhaps that is why the apostle Paul wisely instructed the Corinthians to bring “every thought captive to the obedience of Christ”. Through the presence of the Holy Spirit within us, we have the ability to screen, select, admit, and cultivate what goes on in our minds. By His power, we can prevent our minds from taking a wrong turn and wandering into evil—but we must choose to focus on what is godly and good  00:53:00The Power PodcastnoGod,Jesus,Holy Spirit,Bible,TemptationAll temptation begins with a single thought. Most people want to be in relationships where they care about and are cared for by their spouse, where they intend to persevere through the inevitable ups and downs, and where they have a long-term view of the relationship. One mechanism through which these goals are met is communication. Through the utilization of verbal and nonverbal communication strategies couples in committed marriages develop a sense of "TOGETHER-NESS" that sustains them through difficulties and over time. 01:23:00The Power PodcastnoLove,Marriage,Communication,Relationship,FightingThe Masterpiece Marriage presents "Effective Communication Strategies" When couples promise to LOVE, HONOR & CHERISH their spouses until death do us part theyOvercoming The Spirit of Discouragement & Heavinesshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/powerpodcast/2014/10/15/overcoming-the-spirit-of-discouragement-heavinessChristianityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/powerpodcast/2014/10/15/overcoming-the-spirit-of-discouragement-heaviness/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/powerpodcast/2014/10/15/overcoming-the-spirit-of-discouragement-heavinessWed, 15 Oct 2014 00:00:00 GMTOvercoming The Spirit of Discouragement & Heaviness Daily dissatisfactions will threaten to consume our emotional resources and deflect our attention away from God. We choose whether to walk in peace, joy or any other Christ-like attribute. Circumstances do not control us; Christ does. We never have to be the victim of our feelings or sabotaged by our emotions. It’s our choice whether to look to God, listen, learn, and move ahead. When we do……the wounded, dejected places in our heart and the scars of old dissatisfactions will melt away. The Lord has such great plans for us with more blessings than we can ever imagine. Let go of dissatisfactions and the anxiety of hoping and trusting again. God holds our future in His hands. Sometimes He allows dissatisfactions to occur so that we will learn to rely on Him even the more. Fear is a spirit. It is a spirit that God did not give to us.And self-discipline, self-control and love are our protection from fear? Though we are talking about controlling emotions, fear is much more than just an emotion (just as most emotions are).  Fear is a spirit.  And it is a spirit that does not come from God. Fear is a spirit of torment sent out by our enemy the devil but, we should not be surprised. The Bible says that "we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world...and against evil spirits in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12 NLT).    God says that Satan only comes to "steal, and to kill, and to destroy" (John 10:10) and that is what the spirit of fear is sent out to do.  01:29:00The Power PodcastnoGod,Jesus,Holy Spirit,Bible,ChristianFor God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear),  but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love andThe Masterpiece Marriage- A Great Adventurehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/powerpodcast/2014/08/29/the-masterpiece-marriage-a-great-adventureChristianityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/powerpodcast/2014/08/29/the-masterpiece-marriage-a-great-adventure/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/powerpodcast/2014/08/29/the-masterpiece-marriage-a-great-adventureFri, 29 Aug 2014 00:00:00 GMTThe Masterpiece Marriage- A Great Adventure"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." People have described classes, courses, programs, Bible studies, accountability groups, mission trips and even fellowship as discipleship. Often, people think making disciples is a specific call or spiritual gift, something only meant for the pastors, missionaries and “super-Christians.” Discipleship is not an optional course. It is not a twelve-step program. It is not intended for only a select few to carry out. Christ’s mandate to make disciples is meant for every one of His followers. 01:28:00The Power PodcastnoGod,Jesus,Holy Spirit,Christian,ChristianityDiscipleship is a word that gets thrown around a lot at church. Suffering forces us to turn from trust in our own resources to living by faith in God’s resources. Suffering is not in itself virtuous, nor is it a sign of holiness.
