Todd Rundgren talks Toddstock 7.0, The New Cars and His Autobiography

    in Music

Singer-songwriter, producer, cult hero and soon to be published author Todd Rundgren is approaching his 70th birthday and yet he shows no signs of slowing down. Todd already has major projects lined up for next year including collobarations with The Lemon Twigs, an autobiography, a big Toddstock 7.0  birthday bash...or two or three, and who knows what else.
We didn't talk about "Bat Out of Hell" or "Hello It's Me," instead we dished on some topics Todd doesn't get asked a lot about (that's because I am a bit of a TR geek myself.) We even discuss the New Cars.
This felt like one of my best interviews, and I hope that you feel the same way. I can assure you there is a lot more Todd Rundgren in my archives, or as Todd might say," There's always more..."

Episode 6: Rita Haney, Tony Mosley, Frank Iero

    in Music

Rita Haney - @dimebagzhag on Instagram - was Dimebag Darrell’s longtime girlfriend, and she’s spent the last few years putting together DimeVision 2: Roll With It Or Get Rolled Over, a new DVD of crazy stuff Dime got up to behind the scenes. It comes out on November 24. I met Rita at the Seymour Duncan NAMM party earlier this year, and we did this interview a few weeks ago, hence the Halloween talk.
Tony M from Prince’s New Power Generation. NPG are playing at Bluesfest in Byron Bay, Australia over the Easter weekend. Tony’s story is really interesting - in the interview he talks about how he came to be in Prince’s band, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Last year Frank Iero was in town for a few shows, and we had a great chat for Australian Guitar magazine. We were just hanging around at his hotel nerding out about guitar. Frank’s a really sweet guy and this interview was a lot of fun. Visit patreon.com/iheartguitar if you'd like to kick in a few bucks and get access to subscriber-only content!

CM Radio - Dec. 6, 2017 - Holiday Music with Heather Rankin & Sultans of String

    in Music

We're getting into the holiday spirit this week as we welcome Heather Rankin and Sultans of String on the program.
Heather Rankin is fresh from the release of Imagine, her solo Christmas collection featuring some holiday favourites and fresh new compositions. She talks about how the John Lennon song that inspired the album's name (and appears as its final track) is fitting for the holidays, how the season contributed to her and her family's musical upbringing, and more.
Then, Sultans of String frontman Chris McKhool talks about his band's eclectic new holiday release, Christmas Caravan. We chat about how guest artists like Nikki Yanofsky, Alex Cuba, Crystal Shawanda, and Richard Bona were tapped for the collection, interpreting Christmas classics in various world music styles, and more.
Plus, Andrew and Mike discuss their favourite contemporary Christmas releases, which may or may not include a rant on Mariah Carey's classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You."

Sunday Evening Shout! Gospel Music In The Basement With JaVonne

    in Music

My message tonight is that God is love and love is for everyone. There is no hatred in Christ. Today is a great day to celebrate life. Life is movement and possibility. Tonight's show is all about the joy and freedom that comes from knowing that God loves us and wants us to be happy. God forgives us, nurtures and protects us. This is a great day to remember that God places heros in our lives, whether that be parents, siblings, teachers, preachers, friends or soldiers! Miracles are happening daily! Let us not forget to rejoice in the Lord and dance like king David!
