FOUTH FRIDAY WITH MARYLYN HARRIS - HELPING WOMEN VETERANS & VETERANS SPOUSE

    in Business News

Marylyn R. Harris is a highly accomplished healthcare professional, nurse, social entrepreneur, educator, and cybersecurity practitioner. She is a U.S. Army Gulf War Veteran with over 30 years of experience as a veterans advocate. Marylyn served 11 years in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Saudi Arabia in 1990 to support Operation Desert Shield/Storm. During the war, she worked as a Nurse Supervisor in a Field Hospital's Medical Intensive Care Unit, where she provided nursing care to U.S. and allied service members and POWs. After being honorably discharged from the army in 1992, Marylyn transitioned to a successful career in healthcare and education, starting a healthcare/HIT consulting firm in 2007, called Harrland Healthcare Consulting, LLC. The company is now rebranding and evolving into a healthcare cybersecurity firm.
In 2010, Marylyn started the country's first Women Veterans Business Center (WVBC), with a mission "to educate and empower women veterans (and military families) to start and grow wealth-generating veteran-owned businesses." Her efforts launched a national movement of women veteran-owned businesses throughout the U.S. and abroad. In 2013, she was honored at the White House by President Barack Obama for this pivotal work. Today, Marylyn holds leadership roles in both companies and serves with many veteran organizations. Marylyn was previously appointed as a nationally appointed Advisory Board Member to the U.S. Small Business Administration (Veterans Business Affairs Committee) and with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans Illnesses).

Close Up Radio Welcomes Back Elizabeth Suárez of Negotiation Unleashed

    in Business

Denver, CO -- Elizabeth Suarez is an expert in leadership and negotiation. You might not immediately connect with what that (or her business name) means. Negotiation is not about sales, but rather asking for what one deserves—whether it is higher compensation, a different grade of position, or “a seat at the big table.” The name Negotiation Unleashed is also connected to services for conflict resolution, motivational leadership, skills development, and other aspects of unifying and fortifying one’s workforce.
Elizabeth underwent additional training to make her ideal business happen. That Included an MBA from The Wharton School of Business and coursework at the Center for Creative Leadership. She has become a recognized influence in taking charge of one’s professional trajectory, as well as a popular speaker, podcaster and the author of the book The Art of Getting Everything: How to Negotiate for What you Want and More.
In addition to that analogy, Elizabeth says people looking to move ahead will often say something abstract like I want to work for Amazon, or I’m looking for a position with influence. She will walk them through exploration of their real wants, skills and strengths, and help facilitate the job seeking and negotiation process.
Elizabeth identifies herself as a leadership strategist and welcomes inquiries related to all types of problem solving and crisis management, both at the individual and corporate levels. In a volatile and recessive climate like we have currently, her wise input is more crucial than ever.
For more information about Elizabeth Suarez and her coaching or consulting work, please visit www.negotiationunleashed.com

Close Up Radio Spotlights Women Moving Forward and Susan Van Vleet Consulting

    in Work

Thousand Oaks, CA - The workforce is changing, exacerbating old problems and creating new ones, especially for women and families. Susan Van Vleet has dedicated her career to empowering women in the workforce, and with 44 years under her belt, she is changing women’s lives worldwide. Clients have shared that her consulting business is their best-kept secret.
Women Moving Forward® workshops address personal problems. “We’ve learned that 50% or more of what women must address to be successful are their own internal issues—their backgrounds, culture, family of origin, family issues. Once they deal with these personal issues, dealing with business issues is much easier to handle. We’ve learned that women (and men) cannot deal with external conflict successfully until we deal with internal conflict.”
Women can also soak up Susan and her clients’ wisdom from her book, Women Moving Forward® 12 Years of the Women’s Leadership Retreat Concepts, available on Amazon. This guidebook presents twenty-seven innovative concepts that help women live with intention to create a happy life.
Susan’s husband, John Van Vleet, a seasoned psychologist, is doing breakthrough work with men. His course, Men, Relationships, and Work© is very popular in the US and EU. His Advanced Men’s Course©, has also been a huge hit with the 2024 course focusing on how men are not doing well right now and what to do about it.
