This week on Planet Good Radio (at a special day & time: FRIDAY at 3 p.m., Pacific), we’ll speak with Bill John, the President of Odyssey Teams - a company that blends team building and philanthropy to help companies build their leaders and CSR efforts in one fell swoop. Bill developed many of Odyssey Team’s leadership programs, beginning with rope courses and outdoor adventures in the early 1990s and moving on to Odyssey Team’s innovative blending of organizational empowerment with philanthropy. Bill traces his philanthropic commitment to a run he organized in his 20s to raise money to fight Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a condition that had claimed the life of the father of his college roommate. Odyssey Teams, founded in 1991, is a recognized pioneer in team building and leadership skills development. Odyssey Teams created the renowned Life Cycles program in which participants renew their commitments to their organizations and communities while building free bikes for deserving children. In the past eight years, more than 10,000 bikes have been provided worldwide. Odyssey Teams remains at the forefront of philanthropic team building with a new program in which participants create prosthetic hands for amputees. Odyssey Teams’ blue-chip clients have included Wells Fargo, Abbott Laboratories and eBay.
