After all, why would a good, loving God create a place like that? A place of everlasting torment. In fact, this whole idea of hell can, for some people, be a stumbling block to faith in Christ. To think that a God will commit someone to eternal torment seems like overkill, right?  It's one of those things about the God of the Bible that we just don't like. We'll happily accept His love, bask in His mercy and wrap ourselves in His arms. But things such as judgement, and punishment, yeah, no one wants to hear about or stomach that. We tend to shy away from it because, in our very limited understanding, surely God can give us a break. Hell must then be a metaphorical understanding of evil. That means, those who lack the personal, intimate touch of another human being. It is not a sexual thing as much as an interpersonal connection. The article discussed how some criminals were affected psychologically by the lack of human touch when placed in solitary confinement.  We would go further and look back to Genesis 2:18 "And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." However, as this article postulates, people are becoming less and less interconnected. Human touch, connectivity is an essential part of being human. In a post-truth society, truth doesn't have a big of a factor as much as wanting to feel good regardless of the decisions I make.
