Patriot Media Incorporated is honored to host our good friend Kevin, as our guest on Military Author Radio, he is one of our founding advisors.

Kevin’s career as a Navy Journalist began after taking one journalism class in his senior year at Jacksonville Senior High School in Jacksonville, N.C. He enlisted in the Navy in July 1978 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida. Kevin’s first duty station was  Naval Technical Training Center Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida, where he trained to be a cryptologic technician (Morse code operator). He found the career field was not for him, and was transferred to the USS Albany, which at the time was the Commander, Sixth Fleet flagship, homeported in Gaeta, Italy.It was there that Kevin was able to work in the journalism career field. He later completed formal journalism training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, earning a specialized designation as a Navy broadcaster.

His broadcasting assignments included Clark Air Force Base, Republic of the Philippines and Navy Broadcasting Detachment, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. It was in Cuba that Kevin and his radio team earned three Chief of Naval Information awards and three Thomas Jefferson awards for excellence in broadcasting.Kevin’s print journalism assignments included USS Lexington, Pensacola, Florida; Naval Training Center Orlando, Florida; Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico and Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, Louisiana.
