There's a physician in Oregon who convinced women that his special sexual intercourse techniques were valuable cures for back pain. The Oregon State Health Plan wasn't too happy when he began billing them for his amorous treatment regimens. Trust us. They were forced to expand their software, in order to keep up with the 11,000 new cases they received, IN THE LAST DECADE alone. You are probably not aware that 2,490 physicians were found guilty of high crimes & misdemeanors, JUST LAST YEAR. To put this preposterous amount of lunacy in perspective, one need only realize that none of the other 267 recognized professions has its very own name for outrageous shenanigans in the workplace. "Disruptive Physician" is now a legal term, echoing off the walls of hospitals and not a few courtrooms. Other than "going postal" who else requires their very own descriptor for egocentric wackiness? The crime wave among physicians is almost never discussed - neither in the corridors of health care, nor on the floor of this nation's lawmakers. The media does an adequate job of pointing out obvious, daily bizarre events, such as when a doctor walks around a military base and opens fire on 38 people in uniform. But among the trillions of words uttered in the name of "health care reform," NO public discussion occurs on the matter of the off-the-chart volume of physician crime, nor the impact of goofy behavior. Well, not until now. One might think it just doesn't happen very often. Lucky for us, not all lab coat lunacy involves murder, drug-running, rape, child molestation or fake Botox injections, unnecessary surgeries, mass shootings or secret cameras in exam rooms. Some of it is downright hilarious. And thank heaven for that. We need all the levity we can get. "America's Dumbest Doctors" is what we cover on this show. Why?
