Abolishment of Slavery from the 13th Amendment

How many of you know that slavery was not completely abolished with the passage of the 13th Amendment that was supposed to abolish slavery?  Here is how it reads,

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

So, as you see, there is a form of slavery that is still legal in America.  How does it impact the present and Isn’t it time for it to truly be a thing of the past? Let’s discuss this.
