On this past week, we watched in horror, sorrow, and pain as another Black man was killed by Minneapolis Police, recorded from start-to-death; this cannot be right! Our concern is how to do we explain this to our children? How do you tell a 9-year old that he should obey the police when he sees the headline on the local paper, then asks, “…did the police kill him? Was he a bad guy like Thanos? Well if he’s not bad, then why did they kill him?

There’s not a Black family in the United States that should be required to explain this to their children, but yet we worry about the futures of our boys when anyone in law enforcement can gun them down at a moment’s notice - or choke the life out of a Black human.

05-26-2020: On Memorial Day 2020 Minneapolis was put into the national spotlight when our police department choked a man to death, via a cop putting his knee and body weight onto a man's neck until he died. It was a 4-on-1 situation, and he was on the ground in handcuffs. He had no chance to live. He was screaming for his life, and even calling for his mother just before losing consciousness. It was caught on cell phone recording. It was an execution, and it was an abuse of power that was beyond excessive. (Brian James Shanley's YouTube Channel, 2020).
