Craig Santos Perez, a Chamoru originally from Guahan (Guam), is the co-founder of Ala Press, co-editor of the anthology Chamoru Childhood (2009), and the author of two poetry books: from unincorporated territory [hacha] (Tinfish Press, 2008) and from unincorporated territory [saina] (Omnidawn Publishing, 2010), a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in Poetry. He earned an MFA from the University of San Francisco and is a Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. His dissertation examines articulations of indigeneity in Native American and Native Pacific literature and theory. In the Fall, he will begin as an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing in the English Department at the U of Hawai'i, at Manoa.
