In the 2000 film Erin Brockovich, Julia Roberts plays the titular, real-life legal assistant who nearly single-handedly brings down a California power company accused of polluting a city's water supply. Although actress Julia Roberts won an Oscar for her performance, these types of cases are not only real, but also prevalent and common. Known as “toxic torts”, they are increasingly common, as more and more negative side effects from long-term exposure to chemicals are discovered and those in charge are held responsible.
This week on One Cell One Light Radio, Dr. Hildy welcomes her guest, physician, attorney, industrial hygienist, industrial toxicologist and biomedical engineer Ernest P. Chiodo, M.D., J.D., M.P.H., M.S., M.B.A., C.I.H. to discuss these types of cases and more.
