Non Angry Chocolate Chick Why I call myself a non angry chocolate chick because it describes me. Raised and bred in the black community’s government projects, and my career as a licensed hairstylist/salon owner, gave me the experience and the knowledge to discuss Black community issues. from my very own unpopular perspectives. So what if I lived in the “projects”, I always dreamed positive dreams for myself. Like; having a “nice” husband, a “nice” happy home filled with some “nice” kids. In my determination to live this, what I call, meaningful and harmonious lifestyle, I had to avoid Rude Behavior and some of her family members , especially “Mad” “Sad” and “Bad”. We all know that these folks are hard to avoid. I finally concluded after years of trying to understand others that being a non-angry chocolate chick is a skill I’d like to share. I have no educational degrees, although I wish I had, But, I am not sorry about it. Why? Because my mind is always open, and my friend Knowledge and the gang can walk right in without knocking. I’ve also never been a “Bible” or “Black History” scholar. I learn my values from trying to practice “good person” behavior. I am also 3 times divorcee and not in a committed relationship. I’m always open for one, but, I love me and my chosen lifestyle. I am aware that my perspectives about my Black community issues are different from popular Black African American viewpoints. However, I do believe my viewpoints are valuable and worthy of being heard, especially by our youth and the coming generations. Although, I talk about my Black community issues, it’s because I’m black and the Black community is what I’ve experienced and have knowledge about. However, I believe, regardless of skin color all human beings are created basically from the same pattern, and therefore face the exact same issues. I believe we are different only in the way we handle those issues. I welcome all races.
