Legislation That Will Impact New Jersey School Districts During COVID-19

COVID-19 has completely reshaped the landscape for education in New Jersey.  It is just not that schools have closed and instruction has gone virtual. The state has to deal with the fiscal fallout that will result from the quarantine. In this legislative update we will discuss one proposed bill, A-3902, which would allow municipalities to delay payments to school districts; as well as A-3904, signed by the governor on April 14. That law obligates districts to continue to pay the salaries and benefits of union, non-union and third-party service workers during states of emergency.  We will also discuss the state budget timeline.
