Building community support for your school district is critical to a district’s success. This, however, takes more than putting out a newsletter. It takes a comprehensive communication plan, with strategies, tactics and measurable results that reflect the culture of the district and community it serves. Districts need to address what and how they communicate with parents and the community, including businesses and civic leaders; how they capitalize on, not cower from or become pawns with social media. They also need to be prepared for when there are missteps in one of their schools.
