Every year in New Jersey an estimated five hundred new school board members begin their service on their local boards of education.  They want to be effective, but there is so much to learn, and there are many relationships to build in a very short time.  What can these new board members learn from others who have experienced that same situation recently?   What lessons did board members who have just finished their first term learn, that might help our new board members in 2016?  What can veteran school board members do to make the transition the best for all?  Please join NJSBA’s host Ray Pinney as he discusses these lessons with school board members Kathy Helewa of Warren Township, Tom Maier of Pemberton and Jeffrey Klein of Fair Lawn.
