We have all heard the term that some people have a jealous personality! What is a jealous personality? First we need to determine whether jealousy is a personality or is it a symptom or byproduct of  experiences. Most therapists see jealousy as a solution for mistaken patterns of actions and reactions towards those experiences. Jealousy may then be seen as a solution to a symptom. Jealousy is a solution for some people resulting from reactions and actions towards various circumstances. In order for one to understand how jealousy results, people should understand how their reactions or actions can be determined by problem-solving instead of defending against undesirable behaviors such as jealousy. Have you ever been at the mercy of another human being? How about a nurse from hell in an emergency unit or even in a regular unit? Now before I go there, I have to admit that everyone except these individuals were very professional in their work.  I recently had a medical issue flare up. My patient care started in the emergency room. I think I got even sicker when the nurse told me to “get” over here so that he could administer meds. Barely able to walk after episodic vomiting in the emergency room sink, I staggered over to and flopped into the hospital bed. No assistance from the nurse whatsoever. I felt so vulnerable. This nurse was only cordial after family members came to my room. I was so glad to get away from the emergency unit for safety reasons alone. Secondly, after spending two days in CCU , I was transferred to a regular unit. Nurse J came on shift at 8am and, even through my morphine haze, it was easy to tell that she was disengaged from her job. She wasn’t interested in hearing from me the patient or getting patient instructions from the nurse she was replacing. I couldn’t have imagined a more disengaged individual working as a nurse. Not only did she ignore my questions concerning my care, she refused to answer questions from family members. Upset family members finally requested that we have a new nurse. Did you know that you can do that? In this episode, let’s talk about patients’ rights and responsibilities. What can you do if you feel you have been treated unfairly throughout your stay at a hospital?  I think that if people knew their rights as patients , those involved in your care would be more cautious with overall patient care. When you speak of addictions, generally people think about drug and alcohol addictions. As a matter of fact, when you typically see a definition for addiction, it references drug and alcohol dependency. Here is a typical definition of addiction: Addiction is the body's need for a drug to avoid withdrawal symptoms, and psychologists study aspects such as addictive behavior, dependence, tolerance and treatments for addiction. Addiction’s first stage is dependence, during which the search for a drug dominates an individual’s life. An addict eventually develops tolerance, which forces the person to consume larger and larger doses of the drug to get the same effect. However, those of us who run in the psychological circles, we know that there are many other types of addictions. As a matter of fact, the ten top addictions include alcohol, smoking and drug addiction, as the first three. Cheating seems to happen in romance relationships at the worst times and when we least expect it. We often sit there in shock after we have found out that a romance partner or spouse has cheated on us. When we are in a distrustful relationship, sometimes the partner who has been cheated on may feel as if it was their fault somehow. However, psychologist  have indicated that when a partner cheats, it is not the other partner’s fault. Someone who cheats would do it regardless of what may have been said or done by you in the past. The questions that arise once a partner has cheated and has been caught are: Are you going to stay in or out of the relationship? Forgiveness, plays a key role in self-healing whether  you decide to forgive but move on or forgive and stay within the relationship.   Answering the following questions have helped individuals who have experienced “cheating” to resolve this dilemma. Can you forgive him or her? Can trust be reestablished in the relationship? Should you forgive him or her? How can you get the images out of your mind? Will he or she not cheat on you anymore? What kinds of signs would you be looking for to confirm he or she is no longer cheating? What other steps will you take to help mend and solidify the relationship?         00:30:00The Anita Ford Shownocheater, spouse partner, forgiveness, love, relationshipsCheating seems to happen in romance relationships at the worst times and when we least expect it. Compared to other countries such as Britain, Germany or Japan, Americans are up to 12 times more likely to be incarcerated. This means that roughly 2.3 to 2.4 Americans are currently behind bars. According to statistics, this equates to approximately one in every one hundred adults are behind bars in America. In addition, if you consider those who are on probation or parole, this number increases as one in every 31 adults are under some type of community supervision in which they report to a legal authority. This number has been steadily increasing since the 1980’s due to stiffer sentencing related to the war on drugs and the supported fact that stiffer and longer sentencing decreases recidivism. As a result, both federal and state prisons have problems with overcrowding, the costs to house the prisoners, as well as appropriate staffing of guards to inmates.  00:18:00The Anita Ford Shownoovercrowding in prisons, recidivism, family, reentry for ex-offenders,parole probationAccording to statistics, America has the highest incarceration rate in the world with 743 per 100,000 populations in 2009. They’re ready-made social environments with events, parties, and plenty of opportunities to hang out with others. There are tons of attractive men and women in church and for the majority, they’re well grounded and know what they want. Seems like a great idea right? I believe it depends on your approach. Are you coming to church for the sole purpose of chasing some tail, looking for a fling? Are you so obsessed with finding “the one” you can’t think about anything else? Or are you coming to church to fellowship with other believers and deepen your faith? The goal of the church shouldn’t be to find you a spouse. It should be to grow deeper in your relationship with Christ. If someone special comes along while doing so, great, but don’t lose focus of what’s important.   00:31:00The Anita Ford ShownoDating church men and women, men women, dating, church, bibleChurches are a great place to meet people.
