A 785 foot cruise ship named the Riviera tied up to the Breakwater in Eastport on Sunday, with a skeleton crew of 135 workers. The vessel is slated to remain in Eastport indefinitely, or until the cruise ship industry re-opens after shutting down due to the pandemic. In this episode, we speak to two Washington County residents. The first is a fella called Nateshaw Rick and he's been asking around the island city for the locals' opinion of the ship's visit. And then we'll hear from Chris Gardner, executive director of the Port of Eastport, about the details of the deal that are expected to bring in almost $50,000 monthly in mooring fees.
Elaine Parker, the CCO, discusses JCN's role in the PPP to benefit small businesses (saving 50 million jobs) & their newly launched “Flatten the Fear” campaign to tell Americans who are frightened of Covid-19 that they can safely reengage society. Our nation is too slowly opening up, but more than half of the country is paralyzed by fear of the virus, which the media created with lies, distortion & agendas. Fool me once, shame on me
The campaign’s purpose is to reduce fear thru Education, FACTS & DATA. It also puts a microphone in front of prominent physicians who are warning of the negative health consequences of the extended lockdown & the importance of ReOpening America.
Elaine explains the key statistic to watch is the Daily Deaths for a 7 day moving average-which is decreasing. She also provides very alarming data on the devastation the shutdown has caused so far. Once you hear those #'s, you'll DEMAND we ReOpen 100% ASAP!
“We can isolate the few & protect the many instead of isolating the many to protect the few. If we don’t, sadly we will have more victims of Covid who never have the virus.”

TOPIC: Why it all began for the Gentle Giants Stay Home Project? Give captive elephants a better way of life
As COVID-19 brought the tourist industry to a halt in Thailand many gentle giants and their mahouts were forced to walk back to their villages. At the trekking camps there was no more food or work for the mahouts and their elephants. It was heartbreaking to see and even harder to imagine that the gentle giants would probably be forced back to work in the illegal logging industry once they reached the villages. Facing such urgency, We were forced to put on our thinking caps; trying to come up with solutions on how to help not only the elephants from having to go back to a life of hard labor and long hours working in the tourist industry, but also their mahouts. Originally all these elephants were leased out to trekking camps so that tourist can ride on their backs, see them do circus tricks, paint etc. Life for them was sad and full of hardship. The mahouts didn't have it easy either. They worked long hours for very little pay. The new non profit Gentle Giants was born; partnering with Save Elephant Foundation (founder Lek Saengduean Chailert).
On May 3rd, 2020 after walking for 3 days a herd of 11 elephants reached their village. The Karen Tribe at Mea Chaem welcomed their elephants with open arms and so much love.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FROM A POLICE PERSPECTIVE
We hear from lawyers, judges, victims, advocates and even ministers about domestic violence, but how often do we hear from police officers about their understanding of domestic violence, it's perpetrators and victims, and its prosecution?
Lt. Mark Wynn (ret), a former police officer and member of a SWAT team for 15 years, author of police Officer Standards and Training curriculum, and key creator of the largest police domestic violence investigative unit in the US joiins us to talk about the history of police response in the US, how current dissatisfaction with police culture in general may affect domestic violence response, whether changes will impact women of color more negatively, and how US police treatment of domestic violence compares with responses in other countries. Wynn, a Fulbright Specialist for the Department of State and a survivor of DV himself, has spent the last 20 years teaching police forces around the world about handling DV and he has done so with personal experience, sensitivity, enthusiasm and the support of researchers, advocates and founders of the battered women's movement.

News, weather, traffic, sports. If it's happening, it's being talked about on BlogTalkRadio. Nothing has the power to move us, motivate us or shake us to our core like what's happening in the world, in the nation and in our neighborhoods. We rely on news for big-picture wants and immediate needs: We plan commutes by traffic reports, our outfits by the weather and our vacations by how the stock market performs. Whether current events happen close to home or across the globe, bookmark this category for in-depth discussions about breaking news and current trends by analysts, authors and educators alike. And if you're fascinated by weather, engage with fellow enthusiasts in conversation about climate change, superstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and more. And it's fun to note that sports – often paired with news, but here a category entirely its own – have rescued many people's social lives, built solely around team schedules.
