Where have we been and why the absence? It's been a long year run up to the 2014 Special Olympics National Summer Games in Vancouver, for both myself and the team I coach - 3 years in actuality. How did we do? Tune in - many of you may know the outcome, but the details of the week are anything but minor. I couldn't have asked for more heart stopping drama without ensuring the presence of a defibrillator. So I'll talk about the Games, the team, the absolute beauty of the human potential, where we, as a family and a team, have been and where we are going. We have started to reach out beyond our immediate geographical vicinity to engage as many as possible in a vision for a future that we are wanting to create for our son and his peers, and want to encourage anyone to give us feedback and join in the journey. So that is on the program agenda as well. This program has had many downloads and live listeners, and I really hope I can offer a reason to call in and engage in a dialogue about anything planned and presented or something that might be triggered in the listener during the show.   01:01:00The Networthy ProjectnoSpecial Olympics,Basketball,Disabilities,Down syndromeAfter way too long of a break, the NETworthy show is back and we've got a ton to talk about. Getting back into our show with a new format, we're going to discuss what inspires and motivates us - people, ideas, products and stories. Where have we been for the last 3 months?  After the 16,000km cross Canada and back trek, we've been reviewing, retrenching, reintegrating, remembering, regretting [a little] and re-energizing!  So now we are ready [Sorry, needed to get another "re" in there - couldn't help myself!] for the next phase.  And what is that look like?  What has emerged, from our big adventure driving this grand country and experiencing the places and people of Canada, from our appreciation for all those fantastic NHL players who have made it to the Canucks ice in the last 40 years, and from our own personal connections - is the tenacity, determination and passion of the individuals in question - and how we can identify and support those we've met and yet to meet, and share that with our listeners so we all might be inspired by their spirit - the spirit of Canada, if you will.  That then is the new direction of this program - find and learn and be inspiried by great people, great ideas and great stories so we can not only enhance our existence by that sharing, but maybe become moved enough to do something extraordinary, something insanely great so then our own stories become something worthy of sharing.  We do hope you'll tune in, listen to what we have to offer, call in and contribute, inquire or sound off - your option.  Thanks to all for downloading our archived episodes - hope it's left you wanting more. Kurc, Carolyn & Carson - off the highway.... for now. 00:30:00The Networthy ProjectnoCanucks,Travel,Inspiration,Gifts,CanadaGetting back into our show with a new format, we're going to discuss what inspires and motivates us - people, ideas, products and stories. The beginning of the next phase of our journey to document the home towns of all 379 Canadians who have been Canucks players in the last 40 years.  In the summer of 2011 we drove cross country to visit as many of the 179 home towns as possible - finding stories and pictures along the road that provided meaning to our odyssey.  After 38 days, 15,000+ kilometers and almost 100 cities, we just ran out of time.  Now our hope is to fill in the blanks by inviting Canadians across this phenomenal country to share with us their stories, anecdotes, memories and photos.  And in turn we'll pass them on to our listeners here at Blogtalkradio, and on the website at 379canucks.ca - and in the process learn something truly meaningfu about the game of hockey and the what it means to us Canadians. 00:31:00The Networthy ProjectnoCanucks, hockey, sports,Canada, disabilitiesRescheduled for Tuesday, September 6th. Yes - we're still on the air.  The trip itself - to visit 179 towns across Canada - home towns of our Canadian NHLers that became Vancouver Canucks sometime over the last 40 years - has now ended.  But the journey is far from over.   We didn't meet our goal of personally visiting all the cities - but we sure made a dent.  Along the way we discovered much about Canada, a lot about hockey in this country - and along the way we reaffirmed much about what we knew about ourselves and found out some new things in the process. Now we are intent on finishing the odyssey - by inviting parcipation from anyone who would care to share some thoughts, pictures, anecdotes - anything you can think of that is Canuck related - from your home community. We also are hoping to include many of those out there that are in some manner challenged - physically or mentally - and provide a forum to display their abilities, talents and passions. Tune in - watch our website - ask and contribute - I think we'll all enjoy the process. More to come - stay tuned... as they say.
