In 2016, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children estimated that 1 in 6 endangered runaways reported to them were likely sex trafficking victims. Globally, the International Labor Organization estimates that there are 4.5 million people trapped in forced sexual exploitation globally. Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal activity in the United States and metro Atlanta is among the top cities.

Atlanta-native, Tammy Kennedy, is an counselor, therapist and author of From "Rubble to Royalty."  A survivor of human trafficking, Tammy shares her story of recovery from severe abuse, including being trafficked for sexual purposes by her mentally-ill mother and what she's doing today to help others who've experienced similar challenges, on Nella-Joi Nation.
