Tonight's special guest is Sarah Henry from Altamonte Springs, Florida, and Dr. Jaime Romo from San Diego, California. Sarah is the Executive Director of the Child-Friendly Faith Project. Sarah holds a B.A. in Political Science from Lynn University and an M.P.A. with a focus in Nonprofit Management from American University. She is a longtime secular activist who is deeply committed to protecting the rights of children to be free from abuse and neglect. Jaime an educator, consultant, author, and Commissioned Minister, who promotes healing from abuse and the prevention of child sexual abuse, particularly abuse by religious authorities or in the context of religious settings, has written a workbook Healing the Sexually Abused Heart: A Workbook for Survivors, Thrivers, and Supporters, is an integration of various disciplines. Jaime is a long time active member of the NAASCA family, and works on the project with Sarah. Founded in 2012, the Child-Friendly Faith Project is largely survivor-led and works at local, state, and national levels. We advocate for adult survivors and child victims of religious child maltreatment by standing as allies and supporters in conversations and confrontations with religious institutions that perpetuate harm against them. The hallmark of the CFFP public awareness campaigns work to raise awareness of dangerous religious practices that are pervasive in today’s America.
