Tonight's special guest is Nicole Moehring from Medina, Ohio, the mother of 2 children who are survivors of sexual abuse. “My son is autistic and we have had a long road with the criminal case,” she writes. “In addition, I am the survivor of domestic, emotional, verbal, psychological, mental, financial and physical abuse. Psychological abuse is extremely common but what I didn't realize was that it can stay hidden for years. It can be as devastating as physical abuse, affecting your feelings, emotions, confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. It takes time and the right people in your path to help you, to encourage you, to believe in you.” Nicole has been seeing an 'amazing counselor,' and with her 'incredible husband' by her side, Nicole knows she wouldn't be where she is today. She has gained strength and courage, that she never thought imaginable. Eventually, she began to realize this was her opportunity to help others. Nicole explains that she and her 16 year old daughter, founded a nonprofit 'Voices of Change 2018.' The mission is to advocate, educate and empower others about abuse. "I began writing my first book." Nicole shares, “The motivation for the book came from my personal journey of being both a survivor of domestic abuse and a parent of two children who were sexually abused/assaulted. Going through the experiences of their cases and seeing how difficult things are, I wanted to share insight and encouragement to others. It is a long, emotional road.”
