Roy Howell's musical career has spanned from being an artist/writer/producer on RCA Records to scoring award-winning music for The Discovery Channel. He is considered one of the best slide guitarists in the world and has recorded with superb singers and musicians from around the globe.
And he lives right here in memphis and I get to see his guitar skills live any time I can.
Roy will join me to discuss his career including the music he writes for the Discovery Channel.
We will hear music Roy has played over the years.
Then Peter Parcek joins me on The Couch.
Peter’s journey as a musician began when the Vietnam War erupted and he graduated high school. With the blessings of his mother and the help of a family friend, he relocated to London, England, and found himself in the thick of the British blues explosion.
Eventually he was back in the states and continuing to play.
Between jobs as a school counselor and instrument salesman, Peter joined his first serious band, Boston’s Nine Below Zero. Their visceral take on classic and original blues won them regional acclaim and led to Peter playing on recordings for the piano legend Pinetop Perkins and a stint as Perkins’ touring bandleader.
I will speak with peter about this long, twisting journey and where he is today and wants to be tomorrow, while listening to cuts from his album, The Mathematics of Love and his new EP, Pledging My Time, his interpetation of 4 of Bob Dylan's Songs.
