Animal totems help us discover who we are. They tell us what is happening in our lives at a particular moment and connect us to the invisible realm. Your totem can be any animal that you feel a close affinity toward or bond with. One need only look back to ancient Egypt to see the meaning that animals had in their lives. They did not view animals as separate from “man” since most gods and goddesses were portrayed as both animal and human. Shamans are perhaps our best example of those spiritualists who are able to use animals as a bridge to the world of spirit.
