The issue of colorism in the black diaspora is as old as slavery and colonialism itself. Any discussion of the topic brings up many painful incidents of childhood and every black person seems to have a story to tell about how it has affected their lives in some way. The various issues that exist around skin shade have affected the way that black people view themselves and each other. Of particular interest is the effect and impact that colorism has had on dark skinned black women. Rashida Marie Strober is taking on the task of tackling the issue and speaking out against the discrimination that dark skinned women have faced and bringing to the forefront the impact it has had on their well being emotionally and psychologically. Join us for a lively discussion of her new book and the topic of colorism in the black community. CALL IN WITH QUESTIONS: 347.215.8933
